Shoalhaven AA News

UPDATE RE 1300 NUMBER, SOUTH COAST RALLY 2012, ETC

The good news is that we had a fantastic run: as a little District, we had fun and got a lot accomplished. The sad news is that the Shoalhaven District dissolved on 10 Nov 2011. This decision was reached unanimously by the current GSRs (group representatives who sat on this District).

We ran for 2.5 years and together, much was accomplished:

  • Hundreds of brochures were produced and distributed across the Shoalhaven
  • This website was established
  • A toll-free, 24-hour helpline was established
  • An annual rally was established and held twice
  • Family picnic days were also held

So, What Happens Now?

A new District may be formed. An AA District is responsible and accountable to the groups in their District.

Regardless of whether or not a new District is formed, yesterday we unanimously agreed that the following entities would still be in place, and that each will function autonomously (in accordance with Tradition 4):

  1. This website: will still be operational. Any AA members can contact us if you have an event you want posted here, announcement of a new group, etc. The cost of operating this website will be donated by a local member of AA. The time spent updating this website is donated by another AA local member.
  2. Toll-Free Number: will remain operational. The cost of maintaining this number will be donated by a local member of AA.
  3. South Coast Rally: will be held again in 2012, and any member of AA or Al Anon is very welcome to join its steering committee. Watch for flyers (or check out this website) in early Autumn 2012. See you there!

Also, we still have handy AA brochures (with listings of Shoalhaven AA meetings). If you want some for your group, just contact us on 1300 903 392

South Coast Rally 2012:

Yesterday, the GSRs also unanimously decided that the full balance of the money this District currently has would be donated to the South Coast Rally 2012. This donation was made today, into the Rally’s own bank account. This bank account has 2 signatories.

Your departing GSRs thank you for your support these past 2.5 years. We also thank the AA groups in Bawley Point, Ulladulla, Huskisson and Sussex Inlet for their kind donations to the South Coast Rally 2011.Thank you very much!

Want to donate to next year’s South Coast Rally? We welcome any and all donations! The 2 signatories for the Rally’s bank account have committed to being members of the steering committee for the 2012 rally. Therefore, these 2 trusted servants will deposit all donations for next year’s South Coast Rally into the rally’s bank account. If you want to donate directly to the rally, simply contact us on 1300 903 392
